Description: HGV Engineer/Mechanic

Job Purpose:
Maintain service operations by inspecting and maintaining vehicles.
Job Duties:
Keep equipment available for use by inspecting and testing vehicles, Tankers and plant machinery;
Complete preventive maintenance such as, engine tune-ups, oil changes, tyre rotation and changes, replacing filters.
Maintain vehicle functional condition by listening to driver complaints; conducting inspections; repairing engine failures; repairing mechanical and electrical systems malfunctions; replacing parts and components.
Verify vehicle serviceability by conducting test drives; adjusting controls and systems.
Comply with vehicle requirements by testing engine, safety, and combustion control standards.
Maintain vehicle and plant machinery appearance by cleaning, washing, and painting.
Maintain vehicle records by recording service and repairs.
Keep equipment operating by following operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns; maintaining supplies; performing preventive maintenance; calling for repairs.
Contains costs by using warranty; evaluating service and parts options.
Keep supplies ready by placing orders; verifying receipt.
In addition to your normal duties you may from time to time be required to undertake additional or other duties as necessary to meet the needs of the business.

Basic hours:
40 per week Monday – Friday and some weekday and weekend overtime may be required and a requirement to be included in the division’s call-out rota.
Probationary Period:
Your employment is subject to your satisfactory completion of a three-month probationary period. The Company reserves the right to extend this period at its discretion.
