Drain Repairs, Relining and Excavations
Drains may crack and joints may open up resulting from ground movement, water infiltration, root ingress or vehicular traffic. The only solution in the past has been to locate the defective area and repair the pipe after excavating to expose the drain. This is no longer the case.

While excavating is still necessary in some cases KCS now offers a range of no dig repair techniques to repair structural defects in drains. This is a major advantage providing a quick, efficient and cost effective solution to the client.
Non Structural Repair – Patch Lining
Water ingress through displaced and open joints can be very damaging to a drainage system and cause complete failure of the drain by washing away the supporting soil surrounding the drain. Left to continue the drain will ultimately collapse leaving no alternative but to excavate.

By sealing the area of water ingress either using localised patch liners or chemical grouting we prevent any further loss of support and reduce the risk of future failure. Patch liners can also be used to repair holes in pipes and small cracks.
Structural Repairs – Lining
Where the defect area is more extensive the pipe can either be replaced using traditional excavation or repaired using advanced soft lining techniques. The liner is impregnated with a polyester resin and then inserted in to the drain. Once in place the liner is inverted using water or air pressure and left to cure. Depending on the resin being used and the ambient temperature at the time of installation will directly influence the curing time. In the vast majority of cases liners can be installed and cured the same day.

Excavation
It is not always possible to repair or install drains and pipes without undertaking traditional trench excavation work. KCS Services have experienced specialist excavation teams capable of working in both the private and public sectors. Our Engineers meet current Health & Safety regulations being trained to work within confined spaces and the public highway. Engineers training records are held at our head office showing their competence in excavation work, backfilling and reinstatements.

Pipes are replaced and installed from 25mm-diameter up to 1200mm-diameter in accordance with company health and safety plans and risk assessments.
